His Majesty's Ship Duncan
Madras Roads 19th June 1807


Sir
      Since the departure of
the Wellesley Cartel, the Commander
in Chief has received your letter
of the 22 April last, with its'
enclosures and learns with concern
your protracted detention at
the Isle of France.
      I have now the honour
to enclose by His Excellency's Command
an Extract of his letter of this date
to the Captain General, which I
trust may produce the consequence
so sincerely to be wished of your
early liberation.
