Sir,


Having laid before my Lords
Commiƒsioners of the Admiralty
your letter, of the 26th instant, enclo-
-sing a paper to be printed, for
circulation, with the view of
ascertaining certain points connected
with the variation of the magnetic
needle; I am commanded by their
Lordships to acquaint you that
they are pleased with the zeal
and perseverance which you have
manifested in the furtherance of
of the discovery, and that they
have ordered your statement
to be printed for circulation.
