Letter from Sir Joseph Banks to Ann Flinders (3 of 9) (FLI26) Page 1

            Soho Square
            Augt 6 1806

Madam

I have no small pleasure in
announcing to you that I have a Letter from
Paris of the 6th of this month informing me
that orders have at Last been sent off to the
Isle of France for the Liberation of your
Husband Capt Flinders who is Permitted to
Return home to England we may therefore hope
for his Arrival in due course but I fear I
cannot flatter you that it will be soon on account
of the great distance of the Place where he is
Confind [sic] I have no doubt however that he will
be at home as soon it is Practicable as I
have no fear of any further Obstacle being much
in the way of his Returning & have no doubt
that he will easily find a Paƒsage home in an
American Veƒsel     I am madam
                            your Obedient Servt
                              Js: Banks
