Extract of letter from (Sir) John Franklin to Ann Flinders (FLI27)

Extracts from a letter
of Sir J. Franklin, 19 June, 1824,
to Mrs Flinders
          _________

I am delighted with
the account of your
daughter
– she possesses
just the desires that I
do – To sail round the
world – [illegible] in a
balloon – & descend in a
Diving Bell – In each
of these situations, philo-
-sophical & scientific
observations may be made,
that must add to
the stock of General
Information –
Have the kindness to
remember me very

"kindly to Miss Tyler, your
sister, & your little girl –
I would almost
venture to say love
to the latter, with a
kiss from [illegible], if
such were permitted
to a young Lassie
of 13 years" –
